Today, the need for Computer Application experts is increasing worldwide. Global industries and corporates are already facing a shortage of skilled Computer Science professionals. Therefore, SITRC has started a new four-year graduate program, Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), with an intake capacity of 60 students from the Academic Year 2026-27.
The program is designed to make students technically strong, industry-ready, and globally competent in the field of Computer Applications. Students will learn various concepts of computer science, software development, programming, data processing, software implementation, machine learning, and the fundamentals of artificial intelligence with a practical hands-on learning approach.
The curriculum encompasses computer engineering, computer science, data and software processing, software implementation, machine learning, and the basics of artificial intelligence with core computer science courses and practical exposure to meet modern industrial requirements.
The course curriculum is strictly framed as per the NEP-2020 (National Education Policy 2020) directives of UGC, AICTE, and SPPU autonomy norms. The syllabus is designed in such a way that it complies with the principles of self-reliant India through education.
The course structure follows NEP-2020 directives. At the end of each academic year, students are provided with exit options as per NEP-2020 norms. The course is also open for lateral entry at the beginning of each year as per NEP-2020 guidelines.
Students need to score a minimum of 50% credits for academic progression from the first year to the second year. Students securing 100% credits successfully will be awarded the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree.
The department has modern laboratories and advanced technology infrastructure along with a team of skilled, experienced, and dedicated faculty members. The faculty focuses on providing quality education by combining theoretical concepts with practical learning to help students become successful IT professionals and future technology leaders.
Eligibility Criteria – First Year BCA
- Candidate must have passed 12th (HSC) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Students from any stream are eligible:
- Science
- Commerce
- Arts
- Mathematics or Computer Science is not compulsory, though basic knowledge is beneficial.
- General Category candidates must have secured minimum 45% aggregate marks in 12th standard.
- Reserved Category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State must have secured minimum 40% aggregate marks.
- English subject is compulsory at the 12th level.
